1.     BATCH ONE PROJECTS

a.     PROJECT STATUS SUMMARY

2015 was indeed a milestone year for CADIP which saw the successful completion of the two remaining Batch 1 projects namely; Mt Hagen New Terminal Building and Hoskins Upgrade. Mt Hagen Upgrade includes the construction of a new Terminal Building which comprises a Domestic and an International Terminal. Hoskins upgrade also saw the construction of a new Terminal building and the strengthening and extension of the existing aerodrome pavement and Runway.

Most CADIP Tranche 1 projects which includes Installation of new ILS equipment at PMIA, Supply and delivery of 3No Airport Fire Trucks to PMIA, Extension of PMIA Apron & Associated Works and Installation of Security fencing in Goroka, Hoskins, Gurney, Kavieng, and Wewak Airports were all completed and over to NAC in 2011 and 2013 respectively.

2.   BATCH TWO PROJECTS

Following the successful passage of the Batch 2 Periodic Financing Request (PFR) in 2014 and consequent signing of the loan agreement during the final quarter of the same year, the CADIP-PIU has commenced and completed most prepatory works on the second batch of projects in and throughout 2015. Implementations of Batch 2 projects commenced in the second quarter of 2015 and are nearing completion.  The following is the list of projects scheduled under Batch 2:

CIVIL WORKS

(a)  GOROKA UPGRADE

3.     BATCH 3 PROJECTS

The CADIP-PIU team has already begun preparations for the upcoming Batch 3 projects under the CADIP Multi Finance Facility (MFF). This will include bundling of the projects to make the projects more viable. Unlike the previous Tranches, Tranche 3 will be the most challenging as it will cover all nine remaining Airports within the remaining 2.5 years of CADIP.

Projects planned under Tranche 3 will include upgrades at Momote, Mendi, Mt. Hagen, Madang, Vanimo, Security Fencing (Kiunga, Tari and Kerema) Wewak, Gurney, Kavieng and Buka Airports. All minor projects will be implemented separately as they are under Asset Maintenance, Goods, Program Support and Capacity Development.

CADIP PIU has in fact commenced Batch 3 with the Invitation of Bids (IFB) for Momote Upgrade currently in progress. CADIP will also shortly issue IFB for the upgrade works at Mt Hagen (Kagamuga) Airport.
